🐝 Ever wonder how a honeybee hive swarms?
Swarming is how a healthy honeybee colony naturally reproduces. When a hive becomes crowded and strong, the bees begin raising new queens in special queen cells.
Before the new queens emerge, the old queen leaves with thousands of worker bees—sometimes taking half the colony with her! They fill the air in an incredible cloud before gathering on a nearby tree, branch, fence, or other object.
That big cluster of bees is the swarm. Scout bees then search for the perfect new home. Once they agree on a location, the entire swarm takes off together and moves in. 🏡🐝
Meanwhile, back at the original hive, a new queen emerges, mates, and takes over the colony.
One thriving colony has now become two. Nature’s way of making more honeybees! 🍯🐝
